Types of Treatment
I offer short-term, tailored guidance that is adapted to your specific situation. My approach is based on proven effective methods and places you at the center. Together we determine your goals, and based on those I create a treatment proposal. We then refine this proposal until you fully support it. During the treatment we regularly review whether the chosen approach is helping you move closer to your goals.
I use solution-focused therapy as the main framework and can integrate techniques from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), various trauma treatment methods such as Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Imaginal Exposure (IE) and Imaginal Rescripting (IR), as well as schema therapy techniques. There is also room to work in a more visual or experiential way, for example with symbols from nature.
Together we work on your growth and development. Not only during the sessions, but also in your daily life. If you are able to set aside time for homework between sessions, this often helps you reach your goals more quickly and effectively.
Outdoors and Indoors
Most sessions take place outdoors, walking in the Kennemerduinen. Nature helps you get moving both literally and figuratively. Being outside often reduces tension and stress, creates mental space, and makes it easier to talk openly.
Walking side by side, instead of sitting opposite each other, creates an equal and relaxed atmosphere. Movement and fresh air support the thinking process and can help generate new insights. In this way we combine purposeful conversations with the calm, space, and symbolism of nature.
In addition, I work online one day per week. When planning your treatment, I try to take your preferences into account as much as possible.
Outdoor sessions generally take place regardless of the weather. It is therefore important to come prepared with appropriate clothing such as a warm jacket, rain gear, and sturdy walking shoes. If the Royal Netherlands Meteorological Institute (KNMI) issues an official warning for the region, the session will take place online.
